Every window is a deliberate opening in the surface that's meant to keep weather out. What stops it leaking isn't the window itself — it's how the flashing ties into the water-resistive barrier around it.
That's why we find more rot around windows than anywhere else on a house. The window looks fine from outside, the seal looks fine, and the framing underneath has been wet for six years. When we pull siding, window openings are the first thing we inspect.

Do you replace windows, or only install new ones?
Both. Full-frame replacement, insert replacement into existing frames, and new openings on additions or remodels. Which one makes sense depends on the condition of the existing frame and trim, and we'll tell you honestly after we look.
Why do windows leak even when they look fine?
Almost always the flashing, not the window. Water gets in at the head and sill and runs down inside the wall where nobody sees it for years. Whenever we open a wall for siding, the window flashing is the first thing we check — it's the most common failure point we find.
Can you do windows at the same time as siding?
This is the best time to do it. The siding is already off, the wall is open, and flashing the windows into the weather barrier is straightforward instead of a compromise. Doing them together costs meaningfully less than doing them as two separate projects.
